INCANDO THERAPEUTICS CELEBRATES RECEIPT OF PRESTIGIOUS ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD IN GREATER BAY AREA

Award ceremony included top officials of Hong Kong, Guangdong Province, Macau SAR, and Shenzhen

Incando Therapeutics celebrates our co-founder, Dr. Charles Hu, who has recently been presented with the prestigious 2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award for Best Sci-Tech Innovation on 27th September, 2023. This award demonstrates Incando’s important role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) life sciences community, as well as Dr. Hu’s contribution in creating an ecosystem for neuroscience innovation in the GBA.

The Award Presentation Ceremony was broadcasted live by major media outlets, and officiated by Principal Government Officials of the GBA including Mr. John KC Lee, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“SAR”), Mr. Zhang Xin, Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province of the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”), Mr. Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau SAR, and Mr. Wang Qiang, Standing Committee Member of the Shenzhen United Front Work Department.

The nomination and selection of this Award was hosted by the GBA Entrepreneurs Union and co-organized by The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (“CGCC”) and The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (“HKGCC”).  After professional and strict selection procedures as well as independent review by academic institutions such as the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong and industry experts, potential and representative young entrepreneurs are selected to promote the continuous growth of outstanding enterprises.

Dr. Charles Hu was selected from thousands of candidates from the GBA, in part for his role in Incando’s innovative solutions using wirelessly-powered medical devices to treat recurrent cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as his contributions in supporting new biotechnology startups and in inspiring the younger generation of scientists and engineers in the GBA.

ABOUT DR. CHARLES HU

Dr. Charles Hu, PhD, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Affairs Officer. 

A translational biomedical engineer with a passion in business development and investments, Charles’s vision is in bringing about a vibrant healthcare innovation and investment ecosystem in the HK Greater Bay Area.  He obtained his PhD from Johns Hopkins University and his scientific expertise interfaces across biomedical engineering, regenerative medicine, interventional radiology, and materials science.  He is also experienced in research commercialization and MNC pharma medical affairs.  On the business front, Charles heads Ryoden Medical where he oversees healthcare venture investments, advises angel investors and startups, and actively engages in policy discussions in support of biomedical innovations and youth talent development.

Charles is a visiting Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Industrial Advisor of Biomedical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong, vice president of the BIOHK international biotechnology conventions, board member of two biotechnology startups, advisor to the Asia Fund for Cancer Research of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, member of the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association (HKPASEA) and the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO), and director of several retail, food & beverage, and real estate businesses.
